Meet the winners…
Friday night, the long weekend kicked off in style as some of the Muddy Herts Awards 2015 winners gathered at The Women’s Society Boutique (Best Women’s Fashion Boutique) in Hertford for a glass — or two — of champagne and the chance to celebrate all the support they’d received from all you lovely Muddy voters. Thought you might enjoy putting some faces to the names you might not know already….
Morris (on the left, obvs) owns Rigsby’s Guest House (Best Boutique Hotel/B&B), which is just down the road from The Women’s Society (Best Women’s Fashion Boutique), owned and run by Victoria (on the right) and the venue for the awards reception.
Meet the Pod Family — Michelle, Dylan (a very sharp dresser indeed) and Ed — who between them are the force behind The Pilates Pod in Hitchin (Best Yoga/Pilates Studio).
Andrei Lussman popped in on his way to check in at Lussmans in Hertford (Best Restaurant), one of the three restaurants he runs in Herts. The St Albans site has just had a big refurb (can’t wait to check it out) and there’s one in Harpenden as well.
Samantha and Cindy, the mother and daughter team behind the Perfect Moment Florist in St Albans (Best Independent Florist), managed to join us after a long week at work — and it was great to see them.
Rebecca from Leaf (Best Children’s Store) and Jackie from Lance James (Best Jewellers) didn’t have far to come — both are long-standing Hertford businesses. Great to see a bookshop winning the children’s category, too.
Meet Rebecca from Haelan Therapy in Hitchin (Best Complementary Therapy Centre). Love that dress (at the risk of sounding really, really shallow).
There were an incredible three double winners in this year’s Muddy Herts Awards. Meet Lisa from the utterly gorgeous Espiritu Salon and Spa in Battlers Green Farm, Radlett — Best Hair Salon and Best Beauty Salon. Unfortunately, the others — Elizabeth Shakti Kaloczi from Fit From Within (Best Fitness Instructor and Best Fitness Centre) and Sopwell House (Best Day Spa and Best Large Hotel) couldn’t make it.
Catherine and Mike (who managed to dodge the camera…) from Foxholes Farm Shop (Best Independent Food Producer) took a break from delivering calves — it is Spring, after all — to join us for a well-deserved glass.
There were other camera-dodgers, too — the team from The Oak Room in Hertford (Best Gift Shop) managed to race off before we’d snapped — and, as well, lots of the winners who couldn’t join us. I’d like to say we saved them a glass but… well… you know how it goes. I’ll definitely be visiting as many as I can of them in the next few days to say well done in person.
A massive thank you to all of you Muddy voters — and a huge congratulations, not only to the winners but to all the finalists. There’s a lot of local love out there, Herts.
(Oh, and this is me and Kasia Burke, photographer extraordinaire, who we tempted out from behind the camera just for a moment!)
