Raise a glass: it’s the Muddy Awards drinks

You did it, they did it, we all did it! The Muddy Awards are over for 2021 - and what a year it's been! See what happened when our amazing local winners came together to celebrate at the fabulous Ashridge House. Pop the cork and let the celebrations commence!

We asked. You voted. And voted. And voted… The competition was more fierce than ever this year. Over 75,000 businesses entered and 850,000 votes were cast across the 25 Muddy counties – that included over 3,000 businesses and 24,000 votes in Herts & Beds alone! So, it was time to raise a glass (or several) and kick back with Herts and Beds’ finest independent businesses – our AMAZING 2021 Muddy Award winners.

This year we were very lucky to have been hosted by the incredible Ashridge House, winner of the Muddy Award for Best Wedding Venue – an absolutely stunning Grade I listed mansion (and ahem, former Royal residence – only the best for Muddy, of course!). It’s no wonder so many couples are clamouring to tie the knot here (think a few Muddy winners might have got some ideas – sorry, fellas, the bar has been raised!)

We welcomed our winners into the ornate Old Library, sipped Champagne on the gaaaawwwwgeous terrace, overlooking the Italianate Gardens with its sparkling fountain and watched the sun set over the manicured lawns, as the last of the summer rays streamed through the green glass windows of the chapel. We couldn’t have asked for a more idyllic setting. I could get used to this ‘lady of the manor’ malarky. All right, all right, I digress…

The certificates were presented to all of the fabulous local winners on the terrace while the Champagne and chat flowed. Want to meet them all? Course you do! Here they are with Muddy Herts & Beds’ Commercial Manager and myself.

A few other thank yous go out to the wonderful Davina from Image Bliss Photography for taking our gorgeous event snaps, Sam from The Little Berko Bakery for making the delicious Muddy biscuits, and of course to our amazing sponsors, Debenhams Ottaway Solicitors in St Albans – it’s the first year we’ve had a local sponsor and it was great to see Rachel and Natalie from the team mingling with the winners.

All that remains to be said (as I’m writing this my hangover is in need of some serious attention!) is that it was a total pleasure and privilege to meet all of the wonderful winners who have really put their hearts and souls into their businesses, no more so than over the past couple of years, and to see the pleasure and pride that each and every one took from clutching that wholly deserved certificate. We can’t wait to see what the next year brings for you all.

I didn’t eat them all… promise! Photo: Image Bliss Photography
