Perfect ways to spoil your mum — or to be spoiled…
I know, I know, we shouldn’t wait for Mothers Day to show the love to the mums in our lives – but it is good to have an excuse. (You listening, kids…?) There are all sorts of treats you could choose from lovely local businesses round the county. Let the pampering begin!
Pebble Sanctuary in Hitchin is offering an oh-so-relaxing Pebble Pedicure Pamper in their newly-refurbished Pedicure Lounge. (I’ve seen it – it’s sleek and lovely.) While you or your mum – or both of you! – have your tootsies tended to, kick back with a cuppa and an extra-special chocolate treat.
Or you could take advantage of a couple of great Mothers Day offers at the Lavender and Stone Beauty Rooms at either of their branches in Harpenden or Bushey Heath. Book Mum a mini facial and you’ll get a free shape and varnish to tidy up her nails as well (1-5 Mar), or you could spoil her with a voucher for an Elemis Biotec facial in March and – shhh… don’t tell her – you’ll get £20 off.
Fancy doing something together? Take advantage of Totality’s double spa room in Tring to book the both of you in for a glorious spa ritual. A body massage, a Himalayan salt back scrub, a scalp massage and a foot massage…. and it is the most relaxing place to be. Book both of you in together, and one of you goes half-price. *sigh*
And for this Mothers Day only, Atelier in Redbourn have created the Ultimate Indulgent Facial. Doesn’t that sound glorious? The hour-and-a-half treatment begins with a head, shoulder and neck massage, inducing the perfect state of relaxation in just half an hour. Then she can enjoy the benefits of the hour-long facial therapy suited ideally to her skin type and any skin concerns. It’s a total steal at just £60, and it’s available to book – or as a gift voucher – only until the end of March.
Style her up…
Or, if you’re after something a bit different, why not treat the mum in your life to a new look? Style and colour consultant Jo Baldwin-Trott at Colour First is offering a special voucher for Muddy mums – £20 off the usual price of a 2-hour personal consultation that will have her looking even lovelier and more confident than she does already!
Tring-based style adviser Alice Barnes, from ABC Image, also has a great deal that will have Mum looking younger, slimmer and healthier – just by choosing the right colours and shapes. It’s a different sort of a gift – and one that will keep on giving! For the special £99 offer, just email Alice and tell her that Muddy Herts sent you.
Take her out…
There are fab Mothers Day menus – afternoon tea, brunch, lunch, dinner – everywhere. Why not head to Water Lane in Bishop’s Storford and check out what they’ve got on offer? Downstairs, it’s a gorgeous cocktail bar in the tiled and vaulted Cellar Bar – upstairs, it’s casual, and very delicious, dining. With starters on their Mothers Day menu including lemongrass, kaffir lime and salmon fishcakes, and mains like roast garlic and thyme sirloin or roast pumpkin and goats cheese wellington, you can’t go wrong. Leave room for pud, though….
Well, there’s always chocolate – and you couldn’t go far wrong with truffles, or all sorts of other goodies, from Made You Smile Chocolate Factory . Rumour has it, there are chocolate-covered pretzels (which I luuurrrve). But I’d take truffles.
Gorgeous Hitchin boutique What Sarah Did is always perfect if you’re looking for a perfect and stylish gift – check out their bags – and they’re offering double loyalty points to mums all this weekend. Hoorah! They’ve got Orwell and Rose ‘Amazing Mummy’ cuff bracelets – or ‘Merci Beaucoup’ with a delicately gorgeous gold coin pendant with a classy coral tassel. Loads to choose from. Check out their very own Mothers Day Gift Guide .
And I would totally recommend booking in to the Mothers Day workshop at All In One Season in Letchworth Garden City. Go on your own and make something gorgeous to give your mum the next day – or take her with you, get a discount, and have a lovely time doing something creative together with the most beautiful flowers. Oh, and you get to sample Alice’s famous frothy coffee and Dutch apple cakes – as well as the warmest welcome you’ll find anywhere.
