Three Wise Monkeys
Muddy says: whatever you are looking for, you are likely to find it here. Three Wise Monkeys is a vintage and arts emporium like no other. Fashion, vinyl, furniture, lighting, arts and crafts materials and classes, readings from the resident medium, and a café for when it all gets too much.
Three Wise Monkeys is quite a find, and what you’ll find here is likely to be a real find. Never has the name emporium fitted a shop quite as well as this one.
The setting is unique. It’s in a former saddlery with several floors and vintage treasures stashed in ever conceivable space. It’s impossible to list everything, partly because it’s always changing. What you can expect is furniture, lighting, jewellery, clothes, hats, bags, books, glassware, toys, rugs, and so much more. This is also a great place for anyone interested in making things: the range of materials for craft is impressive, with wool, patterns, buttons and bows.
A few highlights: there are live music events and arts and crafts classes, and it’s worth keeping an eye on the Facebook page. There’s also a resident spiritual medium, Kerry, who I was brave enough to meet and while I feel it’s safer to say that I’m a sceptic, I can recommend her as the real deal.
One thing that is guaranteed: it’s impossible to pop in and out quickly. You will be drawn in. Just as well that you can have a nice sit down and a cup of tea: there’s a café here with great cakes. On a sunny day, you can sit outside, perhaps to make a decision about a purchase, and then you’ll probably start admiring the flowers and plants – there is no escaping temptation here.
