Trinder Hair Studios

Muddy says: It’s time to share the secret. Trinder Hair Studios is slightly hidden but what a delight it is when you find it. Treat yourself to the Trinder treatment, and you’ll find yourself sharing the secret with your friends.

Arriving for an appointment at Trinder Hair Studios can make you feel that you’re in on a secret. Marc and Sophie Trinder took St Albans by storm when they opened their salon nearly two years ago. They met and trained at Charles Worthington in London, and when they decided to open up their own business closer to home, Charles Worthington gave them his blessing – you can read what he had to say on the Trinder website.

After less than a year of being in business, Trinder scooped the Muddy Award for Best Hair Salon in 2017. This is a business that deserves to succeed: you couldn’t meet a nicer couple. They have a small team – equally lovely people – and the Trinder vibe is unique and feels like a family. I have been lucky enough to have a blow dry, restyle and even to experience balayage at Trinder Hair Studios, and I now recommended them to everyone I meet.

People tend to travel far to have their hair cut here – several of Marc and Sophie’s clients have followed them from London. They are a great addition to St Albans, and are very much part of the supportive independent business community.

The salon itself is simple and natural, with lots of wood and even fake grass (not quite natural but extremely green). Marc is an artist with GHD hair, and both he and Sophie have over 22 years of experience, working behind the scenes at starry events including the BAFTAS and London Fashion Week. If you’re looking for red carpet hair, this is the place. Marc also wears the crown for being the man who invented the halo braid, and while I really don’t want to name drop, you only have to look at their website to see some of the people they have worked with. Impressive.

But back to the quiet oasis that you’ll discover if you go down a few steps at 19b Verulam Road. The atmosphere here is professional, calm and relaxed. And the experience you will enjoy is a complete delight from start to finish. We are lucky to have Trinder Hair Studios in St Albans.
