Gotta have it

The Chain of Hope necklace by Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery looks beautiful and also has a great story to tell.

If you don’t know Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery, you are in for a treat. The HQ is in Herts and there is also a beautiful shop in Cambridge. Harriet is a very special person, who is ethical, creative, thoughtful and talented, and everyone who works with her shares her values.

Chain of Hope necklace. £125.00, and £10.00 from each sale goes to the Chain of Hope charity.

This heart necklace is a perfect Christmas gift that is beautiful on so many levels. It looks good, I think you’ll agree, and it’s made with recycled silver. But it goes one step further. £10 from every sale goes to Chain of Hope, a charity founded by Sir Magdi Yacoub, the pioneering heart surgeon, and founder and director research at the Harefield Heart Science Centre. Chain of Hope provides treatment for children with heart disease who would not otherwise survive. The chain can be be woven through the heart in different ways, depending on how you’d like to wear it, and this represents the different communities working towards giving children the support that they need. Harriet also has her own story about heart surgery, something I only learned about recently. It’s well worth reading. In addition to supporting Chain of Hope charity, Harriet and her team do lots of work with local schools and also have wonderful events at their showroom and workshop in Weston. I went to the Christmas open day a couple of weeks ago, and there’ll be others next year. The cakes are always splendid.

The cafe at the showroom in Weston is a very popular Saturday pit stop for walkers and cyclists.

While most of Harriet’s work is bespoke – and I predict that commissions for engagement rings are likely to soar after the recent royal news – this necklace is ready to buy and give to someone for Christmas. Or, as with all the best presents, you could even keep it for yourself.
