Wouldn’t You Though?
A swimsuit that fits? And – get this – flatters? And holds in your wobbly bits and makes you look all lean and lovely? Hell, yeah! Say a great big wet and wild hello to Blackfish Swimwear…
The whole idea behind Blackfish swimwear – which is brand new – is that it’s designed to keep everything firmly in place while you glide through the water like a fish. Or a seal. Or something equally slinky. I was just the teensiest bit wary of their claim that it could make you feel sculpted, streamlined and sporty – but, frankly, I was about the closest I’ve been to feeling any of those that I’ve been in years once I had mine on, even though I was *ahem* just splashing around in the shallows.
Now, I’m fairly tall. (Make that very tall.) The suits all come as two pieces – you can mix and match different styles of top and lengths of shorts – but there was none of the not-quite-meeting-in-the-middle nonsense, so (thankfully) no cheeky muffin top peeking out at the public. Nope, the top was gloriously long and covered up everything that needed covering. Quite a relief for all concerned.
The whole idea behind Blackfish came about when their founder was given a super-deluxe full-body swimsuit to try out. She was so taken with effect on her bod – and her swimming – that she looked into putting a similar level of performance into an ‘ordinary’ (well, non-Olympic) cozzie. And the result is anything other than ordinary.
Seriously – and I’ll spare you a picture of this – the effect on the Muddy bottom was positively remarkable. Even my nearly-teen, in a rare moment of not being mortified, commented that I looked ‘quite good.’ (High praise indeed, given his propensity to run screaming from the room if I’m not covered top-to-toe for even a fraction of a second.) And while I’ve not got masses of cleavage to support (TMI?), I can imagine that it would do wonders up top too.
I’m a bit in love with my new swimsuit now. My old one – which has seen a fair bit of pool action – was getting as saggy and baggy as its owner, and it’s now definitely headed for the bin. A Blackfish suit takes some getting into – there’s a bit of squeezing involved – but once you’re in, it’s hard not to start pretending you’re Rebecca Adlington.
Definitely worth investing in, particularly if you’re someone who puts in serious lengths at the pool. Or, like me, are quite happy to look as if you might…
