Need a new workout that, erm, actually works? If you hate the gym and still haven’t found your exercise ‘thing’, Breaking Ballet could be the answer. It offers ballet based workout programmes that you can do either in person (in Harpenden) or from home, in your own time, designed by former-ballet-dancer-turned-ballet-teacher, Sarah Aspinall.
Sarah trained as a ballerina before becoming a lawyer and mum of two, but missed the benefits of the ballet lifestyle (and was feeling the physical downsides of a desk job) so much that she decided to rekindle her passion for dance to become a qualified RAD ballet instructor.
Why Breaking Ballet? Sarah’s on a mission to break down barriers to trying ballet – forget the tutus and twirls – it’s all about building strength, resilience to ageing and injury and longer, leaner bodies. Her high intensity, low impact, in-person Ballet Body Classes take place in Harpenden and can be booked in blocks of 6 or 12 (no previous experience required, and no, you don’t need to have the body of Darcey Bussell to try it!).
If you need a real game-changer, try the 21-day Body Reboot. It includes workouts that you can do at home, and other helpful videos such as stretches and meditations, as well as a re-set clean eating meal plan, all designed to help women’s changing bodies and cycles as they enter their 40s and beyond.
Sarah also runs Breaking Ballet retreats and a BBackstage monthly membership where you can become part of the Breaking Ballet community, receive access to a variety of ballet-based workout tutorials, meal plans, Facebook Live Q&As, monthly challenges to try and a workout calender to help you fit Breaking Ballet into your busy schedule.
