If you're after high end food in a friendly local setting, then it might be time to mosey on down to Eileen's in the pretty village of Ampthill.
After one day in the Flitwick Manor kitchen, aged just 15, Eileen’s Head Chef Steve Barringer knew he was destined for the kitchen. After a few more years at Flitwick and a stint at Rushton Hall in Northamptonshire, Steve worked his way to the final of Masterchef: The Professionals, before opening Eileen’s.
Eileen’s is a modern-yet-friendly addition to Ampthill’s already buzzing culinary scene. With Barringer at the helm, this fantastic local eatery has elevated the town’s culinary standards. The seven course tasting menu (£75) involves dishes such as Compressed Tomatoes served with Elderflower Emulsion, Marinated Courgette, Pickled Shallot and Frozen Goats Cheese, followed by delights like Cod with Pea Puree, Gherkin Ketchup, Caper & chive butter and Beef Dripping Roast Potatoes. This is high end fare, and well worth a reservation.
