Gin lovers listen up! You can try before you buy at this local artisan distillery and shop – the first in Hertfordshire and the home of Campfire Gin
Home of local artisan tipple, Campfire Gin, Puddingstone is Hertfordshire’s first ever gin distillery. The gin is so-called because founders Ben and Kate Marston have enjoyed their fair share of G&Ts around a campfire – everything tastes better in the great outdoors, right? Ben and Kate wanted to bring that experience to the bar too, and so Campfire Gin, The Spirit of the Outdoors, was born.
Today, they produce three gins – London Dry, Cask Aged and Navy Strength – as well as limited editions, such as their Christmassy PUD PUD gin, which first launched on World Gin Day 2018, (it’s 9 June by the way).
Drop into the distillery shop on Fridays or Saturdays to pick up a bottle to take home or there’s a chance to meet the founders, learn how Campfire Gin is made and quaff a couple of cocktails at the Thursday evening tours, but they’re mega popular, so get in there quick! Oh, and if you’re wondering, Puddingstone is a type of rare rock formation found in Hertfordshire, which was historically used to ward of evil spirits – whoa, spooky!
