Missing roaming around fragrant foodie festivals, tasting slices of this and cubes of that? Then roll up, roll up for all the fun of this socially distanced food fair!
Along with music and comedy festivals, culinary events have been a rarity since Covid rocked up. Foodies everywhere are missing perusing fragrant food stalls, catching spicy scents on the breeze, and sipping potent new spirits while dipping pieces on sticks into tubs of something yummy. Sigh.
Caroline Stranders is one such foodie – she’s been passionate about discovering new fodder and tipples for a seriously long time. Starting 20 years ago in the food, booze and beverage industry, she went on to create her own events and sampling company, which was going great guns until last March when the first lockdown hit. No longer able to promote her products face-to-face, Caroline was determined to find another way to deliver exciting new brands into foodie hands, and so Taste Treats began.
Each month, the Taste Treat team (Caroline and her “long-suffering” hubby) put together a themed (Mothers’ Day, Christmas et al) Food Festival in a Box. These contain an assortment of handpicked treats from indie makers, artisan creators and up-and-coming brands – just like you’d find at a food festival. They then put all these delights – from crackers, snacks and sauces to treats, wine, deli and dips – into a box and deliver it straight to you for £16.95.
Taste Treats is based in Hertfordshire, but they deliver nationwide, which is handy, as Caroline’s also created a small but perfectly formed gifting range – Lucky Dip, Vegan and Luxury boxes. Each gift contains a thoughtfully selected choice of, well, tasty treats, making them perfect for sending to those foodie friends you’re missing most. It will be like finding a little food festival on their doorstep!
