The Cricketers, Weston
Looking for a friendly village pub with great food, warm hospitality and hearty country walks? How about a pub with its very own pizza oven? Owzat, The Cricketers!
The Cricketers could easily win the award for Cosiest Pub in Herts – there’s an open fire in the bar, a wood burner in the main dining area, and come summer, a wonderful outdoor space and garden. This is a pub that believes in local community and there are any number of celebrations and events involving sports, schools, charity days and evenings and open air cinema. What makes The Cricketers stand out even more as a village pub with the mostest is the fact that it has its very own pizza oven, in the shape of a cricket ball (!), which means that you can cosy up with delicious thin and crispy pizza and a pint of local ale. What is more, you can even pick up a takeaway pizza on your way home from work. Result.
This is a great family destination and children love it here. Choose from salt and pepper squid, local sausages and mash, the Googly pizza, or fish and chips and Sunday roasts. The curries here are excellent and there’s a great choice of gins and beers. Puds are sticky and saucy. Weston itself is a great spot for walks and you’ll find loads of maps in the bar, or the staff are happy to help with routes and suggestions. Put The Cricketers on your map and make a date to step out in north Herts for a hearty walk and lunch.
