The White Hart, Welwyn

Owned and run by brothers James and Tom Bainbridge, The White Hart offers varied menus, real ales, an extensive gin range, cocktails and an exciting wine list. The restaurant, hotel and function space in Welwyn village serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.

For lunch and dinner the restaurant offers an à la carte menu as well as a bar snack and sharers’ menu. The bar is open all day where you can pop in for a pint of real ale or have cocktails and G&Ts before your meal. The extensive wine list consists of wines carefully selected by James who enjoys nothing more than recommending and discussing wine.

The kitchen is run by Chas Wheeler who was previously head chef of The White Hart’s sister pub The Tilbury. The kitchen uses quality ingredients that form the basis for delicious, well thought out and creative dishes. The food offering for the group is headed by Thomas who runs The Tilbury kitchen which has earned and maintained two AA rosettes. The White Hart has recently been awarded one AA rosette.

The hotel has 13 bedrooms including 3 boutique rooms with jacuzzi baths. All rooms have new king size beds and the room rates include breakfast which ranges from honey and thyme porridge to a full English that has local bacon, sausages and homemade baked beans.

The hotel’s hidden gem is the function space, the old Court Room of Welwyn. This space has a private entrance and can lead directly to the guest rooms and is ideal for celebrations and parties. The hotel also has a variety of conference and meeting packages so you can work as well as play at The White Hart.

Great service is led by Adam and Martha who also worked with the brothers at The Tilbury. The hotel is guided by James who has 3 Michelin star experience so you are sure to feel welcome.
