Muddy Awards Winners Drinks!

The best local businesses in Herts&Beds, as chosen by you, raised a glass (or three...!) to celebrate their very well-deserved wins, at the totally gorgeous Copper House bar in Berkhamsted for the annual Muddy Awards Drinks. Cheers!

After a really exciting (and busy as ever!) awards period, we all deserved a drink (counting up all those votes is thirsty work!) Luckily the fabulous Copper House bar on Berkhamsted High Street stepped in to host the 2019 Muddy Awards Drinks, and it was a great bash, where Jo (Muddy Herts & Beds’ Commercial Manager) and I we were able to meet all our worthy winners and, well, let our hair down…

Doesn’t our Muddy sign look smart, too?

Having only opened a few months ago, the Copper House was a brand new venue to most of our winners (we got a sneak peak at the press opening) and they were suitably impressed by the cool vibe and slick interiors (that neon sign and Tom Dixon chandelier are to die for – although I couldn’t quite sneak them home in my handbag!).

There’s that chandelier glowing in the background

It provided the perfect backdrop for the celebrations, (which were caught on camera by the brilliant Ian Scott Photography), and obvs, plenty of winner’s selfies for Instagram!

Here I am, mingling away…

The winners came from near (The Rex Cinema, across the road) and far (Hitchin, Ware and Hertford), and took time out of thier busy working schedules to come and claim their awards and enjoy an evening of fun, frolicks and fizz – something the Copper House prides itself on, actually.

Alice from The Rex (Best Arts Venue), Nicole from NuYou Pilates and Sarah (Best Yoga or Pilates Instructor)

Andy from Copper House, chatting to Emily and Anna from Serenity (Best Beauty Salon)

Muddy’s Jo, Nicole and Emma from Cositas (Best Interiors Store) and moi!

No fewer than ten of the awards went to Hitchin businesses – must be something in the water there, eh?! – and they certainly brought the party with them. In fact, they promised to hire a minibus to come back en masse for a reunion soon!

The Hitchin crew, proud as punch!

Amy from Vintage Bay (Best Gift Shop), Pooja from Rubarb (Best Women’s Fashion Boutique), Sharon Cooper (Best Photographer) and Sarah Maylin (Best Florist)

OK, so we might not have been able to guarantee the weather but it didn’t matter as everyone was having such a great time that noone noticed the rain storms going on outside (June, seriously?)

The sense of community spirit was well and truly alive, and it was amazing to see so many of the winners chatting, sharing stories and congratulating each other on their wins.

But there would be no awards without the support and votes from you, our loyal Muddy readers – so a huge big thanks to YOU! All of these brilliant independent local businesses couldn’t have been more grateful and proud to have been recognised for their dedication and hard work with a much coveted Muddy Award (and we don’t blame them!).

Shall we have a look at some of them receiving their awards…?

And the winner is…

Stuart and Hatty from Nude Tin Can (Best Art Gallery)

Darren from the Alford Arms (Best Destination Pub)

The Tring gang – Sacha from Black Goo (Best Café), and Jess and Maggie from Maggie J (Best Jewellery Store)

Kerry and Kirsty from Secret Garden (Best Children’s Business)

Ben and Olivia from OPEN Hairdressing (Best Hairdresser)

Congratulations again to all the brilliant 2019 winners and here’s to next year’s Muddy Awards – cheers!
