Property Flirt: Stable Yard Cottages, Dunmow

Just when *ahem* Christmas is appearing on the horizon, here’s a cottage that looks like it could be made of gingerbread.  Oh-so-sweet to look at — and just wait until you see inside…

This little beauty — no nibbling, now! — used to be two cottages, hence the name, but has been converted into one rather lovely semi-detached one.  And it’s in a fairly idyllic spot, too — although it’s just a hop, skip and a jump to the the A120, the M11, and Stansted Airport.  Cute and convenient.

Stable Yard Cottages is perched right in the grounds of the historic Easton Lodge, and it’s just oozing character and charm.  It’s Grade II listed, even after the conversion from two to one cottages, and there’s plenty going on inside that chocolate-box exterior.
Downstairs, there’s a bright and airy hallway — with a rather gorgeous wooden floor — and then it’s on into a sitting room, a family room and a space that could either be a study (yes please!) or a fourth bedroom.  There’s also a shower room downstairs, so that would be neat if you did use it as a bedroom.

Love how bright and sunny it all is inside — cosy, but light at the same time.  Downstairs, of course, there’s also a kitchen and breakfast room — equally sunny.

Wanna go upstairs?  There are three bedrooms up there — with delightful sloping ceilings — and a family bathroom.  It might look small and sweet from the outside, but there’s plenty of space inside.

Heading back outside, there’s a private walled garden — with well-planted shrub borders.  Perfect place to sit out and enjoy a sneaky G’n’T on those long summer evenings.  And out the front, there’s that grassy area and a long shingle driveway.

There’s also a double garage, which is great — and which also includes a pitched roof with lots of storage space up there — and there’s off-road parking as well.

It’s a sweetie, isn’t it?  But what do you think they’re asking for it?  How many chocolate buttons will you have to give up in order to put in an offer?  Check if you’re right here.  And let me know how close you got!
