LOVING: cool local fashion label Needle
Have you came across brilliant local fashion label Needle? Hero, over at Muddy Bucks and Oxon, has and, just in time, managed to squeeze one of its jumpers into her last-minute Christmas shopping guide. But here’s a bigger gander at the goosey, not only because co-founder Emma lives up in these ‘ere parts (so huzzah for that) but also because Needle clobber is totally delicious – classic enough for anyone to wear, but groovy enough that several pieces from the spring/summer collection have snapped up by supercool London boutique Anthropologie. That is quite the achievement.
So what to tell you… Well, the brand’s been going for only 18 months, and Emma had a baby three months after the first collection went on sale, so go figure the hard work put into that one! Her background is pretty razzy – a graduate in fashion design at St Martins, she designed for Burberry and LK Bennett in London before starting Needle, a luxury knitwear brand that designs classic pieces with a twist, with a friend during the summer of 2013.
She moved out of London a few months ago, which is when she started bleeping on the Muddy radar, and Hero met her for a coffee to check out her look books and have a bleary-eyed chat about how bleedin’ hard it is to combine work with children. Aside from having the hilarious habit of giving each of her jumpers names and talking about them as ‘she’ and ‘her’ which can get a bit confusing (did I know Addie? who the hell was Becky?), she was just lovely.
Anyway, check out the AW14 collection here, there are some gorgeous pieces at mid-designer prices. Think between £100-175 for a cashmere jumper.
It’s also worth checking out some fab bargains from previous seasons – both winter chunkies and more summery stock with cashmere jumpers knocked down a whopping 70%.
And here’s a sneaky peak at the SS15 collection. Just right for a stylish sojourn to Ibiza this summer, I think…
