13 Christmas wreath making workshops to book now

Deck your door with boughs of holly! These local festive craft classes are hugely popular so be sure to book now.

This Christmas might look a little different, but we’re still prettying up our doorways with as much greenery and baubles as they can handle (because hey, if you can’t go a little OTT this year, when can you?).

If you fancy having a crack at creating your own Christmas wreath, workshops in Herts and Beds are still running in December (some come with free festive tipple btw). But be quick to book as tickets are selling like hot mince pies. Secateurs at the ready, let’s go!

Hertfordshire

Perfect Moment Christmas Wreath

Forever Green, Potten End, 2, 4, 5 9, 11 and 18 December

Florist Nicky Pritchard‘s Winter Workshops are huuugely popular, so get in quick to nab a place at one of this year’s classes at her amazing new studio (there are only six spots per workshop). All equipment and materials are provided, including refreshments, so you don’t need to bring a thing – just your imagination! Contact Nicky to book your spot.

Decorate a fresh pine door ring with cinnamon sticks, pine cones, dried fruits, baubles, glitter or ribbons (or all of the above!) at this evening workshop. Oh, and mince pies and mulled wine are thrown in too – bonus.

HRC, Hertford, 3 and 10 Dec

Learn how to make and tailor your fresh wreath to your personal colour scheme at these 3-hour courses at Hertford Regional College. They’re taking place at the Ware Campus and all tools and materials are provided. You can even combine with a Christmas Garland workshop for a total cost of £60.

This one involves a full day of festive fun, with coffee, mulled wine, homemade biscuits and lunch with fizz included (as well as materials and tuition for making your beautiful door adornment). There are also three half-day workshops where you can make table decorations on 11, 12 and 19 Dec.

Colette from Scarlet Rose Wreaths will run this luxury wreath workshop, teaching you all of her top tips for making your own stylish door decoration. Use the adornments provided or bring your own. And if you don’t make it to the workshop, you can buy one of Colette’s wreaths at St Albans Market throughout November and December.

Rennie Grove Hospice Care, 3 Dec

One bonus of lockdown – you can do this virtual workshop in your PJs if you fancy! Sign up by 11am on 1 Dec to get your hands on your DIY wreath kit (collection only), and you’ll receive all the materials you need plus a video from Volunteer Head Gardener Sue Hobley on how to put together your Christmas wreath. All proceeds go to Rennie Grove Hospice Care.

Make a gorgeous Christmas wreath with the guidance of Christabel from Bella Bloom Gardens. These workshops take place at Little Heath Plant Nursery in Potten End – the nursery will be open, and Dottie About Cake will be on hand for you to buy light lunches and homemade cakes. All materials provided, but you’ll need to bring an apron and pair of secateurs.

In lieu of in-person workshops, Elworthy are providing clever DIY Christmas wreath boxes in a variety of styles to be delivered around Beds and Northants (or posted if you live further afield!), with step-by-step video instructions on how to create your masterpiece. If there are more than five of you, you can also request a live 2-hour workshop over Zoom.
