MUSIC: Talvin Singh, Saffron Hall, Fri 15 Feb
Mercury Prize winner Talvin Singh has some serious creds when it comes to producing and composing music and has collaborated with the likes of Yoko Ono. For this new project, he brings together cellist Francesca Ter-Berg, Preetha Nararayanan on violin and Shriram Sampath on flute to perform at Saffron Hall.

Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, star of Ab Fab the Movie and all around drag diva La Voix performs at Aylesbury Waterside. Expect amazing costumes, outrageous comedy and, of course, her huge voice. Faaaabulous darling!

SPACE: Planetarium, Dunstable Downs at the Whipsnade Estate, until Fri 15 Feb
The Planetarium returns to Dunstable Downs with a larger venue and brand new show about the stars hosted by experts from Dark Sky Wales.
MUSIC: Chiltern Arts Festival, various locations, until Sat 16 Feb
The Chiltern Arts Festival’s special Choral Weekend takes place at St Mary’s Church in Henley and welcomes Stile Antico: Queen of Muses for an exploration of the music of the Royal court of Queen Elizabeth I. Then sing your heart out with composer, conductor and singer Bob Chilcott, on Saturday’s ‘Come and Sing’ day. The festival concludes on Saturday evening with the Ryedale Festival Opera performing a new production of Mozart’s Così fan tutte at Pipers Corner School in Great Kingshill.
MAGIC: The Close-Up Show, Hertford Theatre, Sat 16 Feb
Looking for something a little different for a Saturday night? Performed in the intimate setting of Hertford Theatre’s Studio space, The Close-Up Show brings together three experts in sleight of hand direct from sell out shows at The Magic Circle in London. 10+
FILM: Romeo and Juliet, The Assembly Rooms, Marlow, Sat 16 Feb
Firefly events’ indoor cinema pops up in Marlow with Leonardo DiCaprio *cue screams*. Sorry guys, it’s only on film but a great one at that: Baz Luhrmann’s brilliant adaptation of Romeo + Juliet. A ticket also includes an Indian meal, access to the bar and table service.

Cowboys, farm girls, rivalry and romance – what more could you want? The Abbots Langley Gilbert & Sullivan Society bring Oklahoma! the Rogers & Hammerstein classic to life, with an evening performance on Friday and Saturday as well as a Saturday matinee.
WALK: Snowdrops, various locations, various dates
Feels like spring, no? Well it will once you’ve seen carpets of those pretty little snowdrops popping their heads up. Check out the displays the Old Church Cottage in Tring (16 – 17 Feb), a four hundred year old thatched cottage which provides a chocolate-box pretty backdrop for spring flowers; and the ever popular Benington Lordship Gardens (until 3 March) with 200 snowdrop varieties surrounding the Norman castle and moat – often cited as the best snowdrop site in the country. To celebrate the iconic colourful elephant’s 30th birthday, Elmer is going on tour. The show features 21 puppets, vibrant colours, cheeky humour and at a short 45 minutes looks perfect for little ones under seven.
