Happy St David’s Day!
I know, I know, we’re a long way from the valleys — but I’m not one to pass up an opportunity for a bit of a celebration. Couple of things to share with you on this day to revel in all things Welsh — and not a daffodil in sight. Well, maybe one or two…
If you’re in need of a bit of a smile this morning, you could do worse than start practising your Welsh. I know, it’s a tricky one — but this handy guide will have you saying things that you never imagined would be useful but, well, you just never know, do you? My personal favourite is “Oes wir raid i fi wisgo’r het yna?” — or, “do I really have to wear this hat?”
On a more practical — and delicious note — I’ve managed to get Berkhamsted chef Luke Garnsworthy of LHK Catering to part with his closely-guarded recipe for Caerphilly Sausages. They sound delicious — properly cheesy and, er, leeky.
And then there are Welsh Cakes. Oh my giddy (and, to be fair, Welsh) aunt, the utter deliciousness of a Welsh cake, hot off the griddle and crunchy with sprinkled sugar. Mmmm….
