Media: Come on, let’s go for it, girls!

Hero, over at Muddy Bucks and Oxon, is always on the lookout for great ads — and this one’s a cracker.  I’m the first to admit that I’m not really a sporty person, watching or doing, but this is pretty flippin’ inspiring.  Go on, ladies!  I’ll be cheering you on….

Have you seen this yet? I  loved the promo for This Girl Can, released yesterday by Sport England in the hope of encouraging more women to take up exercise. Did you know, fact fans, that in Europe equal numbers of women and men are active but over here 2 million fewer women than men regularly participate in sport, with 75% claiming they want to be more active? Tis true! And more than a bit sad.

One of the main aims of this video is to show women that they don’t need to be wiry carb counters to get out and enjoy exercise. If your bits jiggle, your cellulite stretches from armpits to ankles or your lycra struggles to contain your curves, who the hell cares? It’s about getting out and feeling good about moving and getting fit.

You may be a confirmed gym bunny with buns that can crack walnuts,  or maybe you’re taking your first wobbly and wobbling steps to a healthier lifestyle. Or maybe you’re like me, in a glorious stage of self-denial, believing yourself to be a brilliant athlete whilst performing very important breathing and stretching exercises in the steamroom for the duration of your workout. For injury prevention DER!

Anyway, I promise you’ll love watching this. It may even make you reach for the lycra. Just exercise your mouse finger right now and click play (well, it’s a start), and let me know if you like it.
