Wouldn’t you though?
Now then. I came across these wine glass candles made in recycled bottles in a new shop in Hitchin. The name is Rewined, and all you need to make your own is an empty wine bottle – I have a stash if you need one – some soy wax and some wine. Actually, these candles are not made with real wine, because surely that would be a waste, but with scents that mimic the aromas and flavours of Pinot grigio, Zinfandel, Sauvignon and Champagne.
For the last couple of days, I have been going to bed in a room fragranced with Pinot grigio, which, let me tell you, is an absolute dream. Rest assured that the aroma has nothing whatsoever to do with the dregs of wine in an empty bottle. It’s sweet, yes, but I’m also getting a clean, steady inhalation of sandalwood. In short, I sleep like a log and wake refreshed and hangover free.
If you’d like to try a Rewined candle, then you’ll need to go to Hitchin, where Amy Welch opened the doors of Vintage Bay just eight weeks ago. She tells me that she’s absolutely delighted with the welcome she has had. The shop is opposite the church, where Lent is surely observed, and it’s stacked with all kinds of quirky goodies. At £24.99 and with a burn time of 80 hours, Amy says that the candles are going like hot wax, and that Zinfandel is the runaway favourite.
