Impressive 60 acre shooting grounds on the Herts London border, Holland & Holland has been renowned for providing world class shooting tuition since 1939.

Never wielded a shotgun before? No problem – go and try out one of the dedicated ladies’ Green courses where you’ll receive private or group tuition aimed at novices and guaranteed to give you the bug and bring out your competitive spirit. Or there’s a Silver Feathers course for more experienced lady guns. The site also boasts the UK’s only public indoor rifle cinema – no, not the kind with squishy seats and popcorn, but for rifle instruction with moving targets and live ammunition. Something you usually wouldn’t have the chance to try outside of the military!

Even if you’re still not quite convinced about the shooting side of things, there’s plenty more on offer at Holland & Holland, including its 28 cover à la carte restaurant, headed up by Michelin trained chef, Joshua Hunter. It’s open to everyone, whether you choose to shoot or not, and serves up British dishes made from locally sourced produce wherever possible.

There’s also a cosy fireside lounge and conservatory bar with informal dining options, a large sunny terrace overlooking the grounds for summer al fresco dining. Plus if you’re looking for somewhere to host a smart do or meeting, there’s a large, refurbished event space and a private dining room for 16 people with it’s very own wine room (we like the sound of that!)

And make sure you keep an eye on the events calendar as there’s always something going on from the monthly Holland 100 (a relaxed practice shoot for gun owners), to seasonal events such as the Christmas Shoot, Burns Night, Glorious Game Banquet PLUS there are also school holiday shooting courses for 11-16 year old, if you want to start them early.
