There&#8217;s animal fun to be had at <a href="https://birdsofpreycentre.co.uk/product-category/halfterm-events/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Herrings Green Activity Farm</a> in Beds this half term. Children can enjoy meet and handle the owls on 25 &amp; 29 May and the baby goats (24, 25, 28 &amp; 30 May) plus they can enjoy the amazing bubble show on 28 May. Meanwhile, over at <a href="https://standalonefarm.com/whats-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Standalone Farm</a>, Letchworth Garden City, kids can get up close to&nbsp;an exciting line‑up of lizards, mini‑beasts, and wonderfully weird creepy crawlies, all under the watchful eye of resident exotic animal specialist, Mark Amey. From 25-29 May.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-day-camps">DAY CAMPS</h2>

Instead of the kids running through the house, get them running around at the <a href="https://www.btatenniscoaching.com/camps/broxbourne/may-half-term-camps-brox/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">multi-sports BTA holiday camp</a> in Broxbourne. They can try their hand at tennis, basketball, hockey, rugby and more from 26-28 May, 9am-4pm. Alternatively, step back in time and spend the day at <a href="https://celticharmony.org/product/adventure-camp/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Celtic Harmony Camp</a>, Brickendon. Master archery, fire-lighting, tribal drumming and more at this two-day half term adventure camp. For 8-11 year olds. 26- 27 May. Or how about stepping into the boots of a real animal keeper? Book the kids in for the <a href="https://birdsofpreycentre.co.uk/product/junior-animal-keeper-day-may-29th-10-00-3-00/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Junior Animal Keeper Day</a> at Herrings Green Activity Farm on 29 May. Children will meet, feed and learn about the farm animals (including the alpacas, chinchillas, reptiles, and creepy crawlies) and take the goats for a walk. Lunch not included. Suitable for children 5 years+. 29 May, 10am – 3pm.

No need to traipse to the coast! Take the kids to the <a href="https://burylane.co.uk/fun-barn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Beach at Bury Lane Fun Barn</a> in Royston instead. Featuring a giant sandpit, cool adventure zone, giant chess and mini diggers it&#8217;s perfect for children up to 10 year olds. The bungee trampolines and go karts will also be open to the older kids during the half term. Or round up the family and head to <a href="https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/whats-on/wrest-park-mystery-mission-sat-23-to-sun-31-may/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wrest Park</a> this half term for a Mystery Mission. Have fun tracking down the clues and cracking codes to uncover a secret message. 23 May – 31 May. Greenfingers at the ready! Plant your own sunflower and tomato seedlings (then take them home) at <a href="https://www.waretowncouncil.gov.uk/2025/03/free-childrens-activities-in-may-half-term/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ware Priory</a> on 27 May then try your hand at a range of sports including tennis, badminton, and dodgeball on 28 May. FREE. 12 &#8211; 4pm. Want to be part of a Guinness World Records attempt? Join in the biggest ever paint by numbers at <a href="https://www.whipsnadezoo.org/plan-your-visit/events/biggest-ever-paint-numbers-guinness-world-recordsr-title-attempt" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Whipsnade Zoo</a> over the half term with their huge collaborative artwork from 23-31 May. Meanwhile, Bluey is at <a href="https://hertfordshirezoo.com/news/things-to-do-this-half-term/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hertfordshire Zoo</a> from 16-17 May and from 25-29 May you can learn more about native wildlife at the Native Species Festival. There&#8217;ll also be live stage shows and all the incredible zoo animals to spot plus the ever popular dinosaur trail.

Featuring hydrogen bottle rockets, fire tornadoes, and liquid nitrogen clouds it proves that learning science really can be explosive and fun. Enormous bottoms, fart machines, snot cocktails – yes it’s&nbsp;<a href="https://everyonetheatres.com/whats-on/rude-science/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rude Science</a>, the best and most revolting science show in the world! It’s on at The Alban Arena on&nbsp;May 29. Funny and educational, it&#8217;s guaranteed to keep the kids entertained. Finally, calling all gamers!&nbsp;<a href="https://southmillarts.co.uk/shows/wifi-wars/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WiFi Wars</a>&nbsp;is at South Mills Arts on&nbsp;May 29. Little artists can enjoy a playful soft sculpting workshop at <a href="https://henry-moore.org/studios-and-gardens/whats-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Henry Moore Studio &amp; Gardens</a> in Much Hadham on May 24. Other creative activities during the half term week include collecting, making and arranging found objects and reimagining the beautiful gardens using a variety of materials.
