<p>It’s Great Big Green Week (<strong>7-15 June</strong>), the UK’s biggest celebration of community action for nature and climate. Do your bit by swapping disposable items for reusable ones at these local refill stores and be a part of the national effort to build a greener, healthier future.</p>

<p>Bedford&#8217;s first exclusively zero-waste outfit, (and co-creator of the city&#8217;s first &#8216;living wall&#8217; &#8211; you&#8217;ll find it on the outside of the shop), <a href="https://shop.thestoreuk.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Store</a> offers the full gambit &#8211; pulses and everyday groceries, which your pour into your jars and Tupperware from the fun machines that line the walls and print labels to take to the till (kids will love &#8217;em!); nut butter (ground on site), oat milk on tap, cleaning products, toiletries, books and fresh produce. They also stock gifts, such as chocolate-y treats and gorgeous smellies. </p>

<p>Watford&#8217;s first zero waste refill store, <a href="https://refillabell.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">RefillAbell</a> focuses on ethical, sustainable, organic and local (where possible) products and was set up by Sameer and Jane to share the message that we are &#8216;Abell&#8217; to help save the planet by making small changes. And it&#8217;s pretty tempting when you see the array of tasty products that they have on offer. </p>

<p>Owner Wendy set up a local refill store to avoid the need to travel far by car to find one, and to serve the needs of larger families (like her own) who previously relied on supermarkets. Most of the products are organic, with vegan and gluten free options plus household products including Miniml cleaning products, Upcircle ethical skincare and Who Gives a Crap? toilet paper. </p>
