Battlers Green Farm, Radlett
More than just a working farm, this family-run gem is a proper day-out destination – think lovely independent shops, seasonal craft markets, community events, plus an award-winning farm shop for all your local supplies.

Battlers Green Farm, Radlett started out as a dairy farm in the 1960s with milk, eggs and chicken sold from the back door of the farm house. Fast forward and today it’s not only a working farm but also an idyllic shopping village and vibrant community hub. It boasts a gorgeous (and Muddy Award winning) farm shop, restaurant and over 40 independent shops and services making it something of a destination for catching up and stocking up.
The family-owned farm shop itself has been greatly expanded since its humble beginnings in 1960. Alongside the usual larder staples, you can buy baked goods made in the farm shop kitchen, cheeses, fine wines and a huge selection from the freezer. The team prides itself on working closely with producers, showcasing the very best in local and independent produce.
Hungry? The site is also home to The Bull Pen. Originally the pen for the farmer’s bull it’s now a contemporary dining spot with wooden beams, huge windows and plenty of tables and chairs. It’s the go-to place for a hearty breakfast, light bite, cream tea or coffee and homemade cake. There’s even a kids menu and a selection of wines and beers if you fancy a lunchtime tipple.
Moving outside, there’s an array of independent shops and services to explore. Think fishmonger, gyms, beauty clinics, fashion boutiques, veterinary centre and more. Local, seasonal makers markets are also held in the courtyard.
Oh, and that’s not all. Battlers Green hosts a number of community-led events throughout the year, so you really can make a whole day of it. Last year, popular favourites included an open-air cinema, live music and Christmas tasting events. Keep an eye on their socials for updates.
