Pip’s Barn, near Berkhamsted
A small, friendly fitness studio based in pretty countryside yet only 15 minutes from Berkhamsted. Classes and personal training can be offered in-person or via Zoom.
Why work out in a big soulless gym when you could exercise in a converted barn, surrounded by fields of horses? A cute boutique studio with free parking, Pip’s Barn is set in the village of Little Gaddesden, just a 15 minute drive out of Berkhamsted. It’s run by personal trainer Pippa Hunn, who boasts Level 3 qualifications in PT, mat pilates, and sports massage.
As well as the idyllic setting, the USP here really is just how friendly an environment it is. Group classes are small and welcoming, Pip runs plenty of women’s wellbeing events, and there’s no fear of being watched like your standard big open gyms (God knows we’re guilty of worrying about that!).
Not just a cute fitness studio, Pip offers one-to-one personal training sessions, either in-person or via Zoom; sports massages; classes on pilates, spin, and strength; and also one-to-one mat pilates. Individually tailored, the latter can be a God-send for injury recovery: Pip herself got into pilates when she broke her back four years ago and found it essential for her rehab — she was back up, riding a horse merely months afterwards! Now that’s a strong core. Don’t you just want to learn all her secrets? If only there was, say, a barn you could come along to…
