Superflashy newsflash!

Your latest installment of hot goss, including the re-fresh of a high street pub, a brand new hotel dining concept and a £5m hotel re-vamp. You heard it here first...

Harpenden folk listen up – there’s a brand new boozer coming to your ‘hood! Well, sort of… The George on the high street is having a total re-vamp (here’s a sneak peak of how it will look!). With fresh and vibrant décor indoors and  the addition of a Garden Room, and terrace for whiling away those (*sing it in the style of Grease*) suuuummmer niiiights, so we reckon it’ll be your new go-to pub for all-day wining dining and chilling. From breakfasts and barista coffees to a British-Mediterannean fusion menu and Josper grill by night, it promises to cater for all your culinary whims. We’ll be parking our bums here for the day then, and not moving until last orders, thank you very much! Oh and it’s set to open on 10 June – put it in your calendars, peeps!

The Grove Hotel, known as ‘London’s country estate’ (although it is in Herts, we’ll have you know!) has just opened its shiny new revamped Glasshouse restaurant. Housed in a triple-height conservatory, there’s (no surprise here…) loads of glass windows from which to admire the stunning surrounding gardens, giving it an indoor/outdoor feel, plus some artsy features like bronze and glass kinetic overhead sculptures (they look like giant mobiles!). Food-wise, it’s bringing a new dining concept to the hotel, with 8 stations offering a cornucopia of International cuisine, (inspired by the globe-trotting exec chef’s extensive travels), cooked fresh, right in front of you. A bit like a food hall (but FAR fancier) the idea is to try a bit of whatever you tickles your tastebuds – ‘the world on your plate’ – then go back for more. Well, we certainly won’t need asking twice!

The Bedford Swan hotel is currently undergoing a ma-hoosive £5m overhaul, which includes a fab new brasserie, Pen & Cob. This swanky Art Deco-inspired restaurant has signature cocktails (don’t mind if we do!), a seasonal British menu, vibrant, botanical-themed décor and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river Ouse – sounds perfect for a fancy lunch date!

And that’s not all – the hotel’s spa will be getting a makeover too, with a new atrium, with sauna, steam room, and there’ll be new tea rooms and a cool dining space on the embankment. Perhaps this calls for a Muddy spa day and Afternoon Tea, hmm…?
