<p>After a fab foodie experience for a super special occasion? The good news is that fine dining restaurant, Phil Fanning&#8217;s <a href="https://herts.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/paris-house-woburn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paris House</a> in Woburn, is now offering an intimate <a href="https://www.parishouse.co.uk/chefs-table/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">chef&#8217;s table experience</a>. You and the other guests will be seated right in front of the pass, taking in all the action, sights, smells and sounds from the professional kitchen as you sip Champagne and munch on canapés. Then you&#8217;ll enjoy the six-course tasting menu that you&#8217;ve seen being prepared with a wine flight, artisan cheese (with optional port flight) and petits fours. </p>

<p>If you&#8217;re looking for somewhere for afternoon tea, the last place you might expect to find it is at your local pub, but that&#8217;s exactly what you can get at the multi-award winning <a href="https://bricklayersarms.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bricklayers Arms</a> in Flaunden! With sandwiches and sweet treats (prepared by a specialist pastry chef), served with Champagne or cocktails (or I guess you could switch it for a pint!), it&#8217;s available from Mon &#8211; Friday, 3pm &#8211; 5pm. Vegan and gluten free options will be available, too. </p>

<p>Elegant new bar and live music venue, <a href="https://sirglis.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sir Glis in</a> Tring<a href="https://sirglis.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> </a>(a nod to the non-native Glis Glis that was brough the the town by the Rothschilds and still hang out in these parts) opened its doors on 4 March for Friday and Saturday lounge bar vibes in the Aldbury Bar and Piano Room. But the latest news is that from this month, its extending its opening hours to Weds and Thurs nights as well from 5.30 &#8211; midnight every week. Plus there&#8217;ll be a Private Members&#8217; Club with access to a private hire bar and lounge, for private parties, exclusive and themed members-only events. Applications are open now until the end of the April if you want in. </p>

<p>Have you come across the Bramble Hut yet? This cute caravan can be hired out for events and parties to add a bit of vintage flair to hot drinks, cocktails, cakes and puds. You&#8217;ll also find it popping up at Old Bridge Way in Shefford on various dates, including Easter Sunday (9 April), when there&#8217;ll be a surprise visit from the Easter bunny and some themed sweet treats. Hop to it before everyone hears the news! </p>

<p>Your brand new independent Bedfordshire bookshop, <a href="https://www.oldewatermill.co.uk/chapter-25-book-shop/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chapter 25</a>, opened its doors on 1 April at the Olde Watermill Shopping Village in Barton-Le-Clay. Selling new and used books it&#8217;s the realisation of a &#8216;bookshop dream&#8217; for owner Sian Freeman &#8211; a new chapter you could say! Plus you&#8217;ll get 15% off a hot drink from their neighbours at <a href="https://www.oldewatermill.co.uk/plant-prescription/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Plant Prescription Café</a> for every book purchased. It&#8217;ll be open every day except Tuesday from 9.30am &#8211; 5.30pm (10am &#8211; 5pm on Sundays).</p>



<p>Award winning local jeweller, <a href="https://www.hkjewellery.co.uk/studios-shops/st-albans" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Harriet Kelsall</a>, is celebrating the opening of her fourth studio and shop. The new St Albans store will join Hitchin, Cambridge and London to offer Harriet and her team&#8217;s bespoke service and ready to wear collections. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">GOODBYE TO&#8230;</h2>



<p>We hate goodbyes but sadly we are waving off some of our fab local businesses this month. Among them are the brilliant (Muddy Award winning) <a href="https://www.thelittlede.li/hitchin/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Little Deli</a> in Hitchin. The owners are hanging up the cheese wire to pursue other opportunities, meaning there&#8217;s a deli up for sale if anyone fancies a career change? </p>

<p>Elegant European restaurant, <strong>Barraca</strong> by Claudio Costea in Hemel Hempstead has also closed its doors for the last time, as has women&#8217;s boutique <a href="https://www.facebook.com/lollyandmitch" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lolly and Mitch</a> in Tring.</p>



<p>We wish them all the best, look forward to seeing what pops up in their places and are keeping everything crossed that we&#8217;ll see them all back again somewhere sometime. </p>
