<p>The latest drinking establishment to pop up in St Albans is <a href="https://www.villa2loungebar.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Villa2 Lounge Bar</a> &#8211; this chi-chi cocktail joint (which also does brunch and more) opened this month on Marlborough Rd. Welcome to your new evening spot for girls&#8217; catch ups / date night / after-work drinks. See you there &#8211; mine&#8217;s a salted caramel espresso martini! </p>

<p>If you&#8217;ve been to the fab <a href="https://chezburton.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chez Burton</a> in Baldock you&#8217;ll be as excited as we are to hear about the owners&#8217; new venture to open a wine and cocktail bar on the site of a former tapas bar at Letchworth train station. We&#8217;ve heard on the grapevine that they&#8217;ll be offering sharing plates such as charcuterie and cheeseboards and while we&#8217;re loving the name &#8216;The Waiting Room&#8217; (a nod to the building&#8217;s history), we hope we won&#8217;t be waiting too long for it to open! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-new-baaa">New baaa</h2>



<p>We said a sad goodbye to <a href="https://thelambberkhamsted.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Lamb in Berkhamsted</a> when it closed its doors earlier this year &#8211; sob. But the good news is it&#8217;s back! The traditional pub re-opened only last week under new ownership and, unlike its former incarnation, will welcome both children and doggies. We can&#8217;t wait to see what&#8217;s on the menu (especially the cocktail one!). </p>

<p>If you have ever experienced a <a href="https://knoops.co.uk/pages/location-page-st-albans" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Knoops</a> hot chocolate you&#8217;ll know it&#8217;s far superior to any other around. Lucky for us a store opened in St Albans back in June, but if you&#8217;ve not been in already, now&#8217;s the perfect time to pop in and try that bubbly, velvety hot chocolate as the autumn vibes kick in. And there&#8217;s not just one, but over 20 types to choose between &#8211; from a creamy 28% white chocolate blend to 100% single origin dark cocoa &#8211; with the biggest marshmallows you&#8217;ve ever seen! You&#8217;ll find it on the corner of Market Place and the High St next to the clock tower. Fyi they do iced choccie, milkshakes and soft serve ice cream too, but it&#8217;s the hot stuff we&#8217;re craving! </p>

<p>Love waffles? You&#8217;re in luck as <a href="https://www.littlewaffleshoptring.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Little Waffle Shop</a> has just opened its doors in Tring. Serving them up with sweet and savoury toppings &#8211; from strawberries and cream to cheesy garlic mushroom &#8211; there&#8217;s something for all tastebuds, and little ones can get their own half size portion for a very affordable £3.50. Perfect Friday treat! </p>

<p>A French-style wine bar, coffee shop and bistro popped up in Hertford this month. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/blindboarhertford/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">No5 Eat and Drink</a> will cover you from breakfast coffees and pastries to wine and cheese, with everything else inbetween. With its trad, eclectic styling &#8211; think copper pans and baskets hanging on the walls &#8211; and its morning-to-nigh offering, we reckon it&#8217;s set to be a new local triumph! Très bien! </p>

<p>Calling all petrolheads! A cool coffee shop for motor enthusiasts (although you don&#8217;t have to have a passion for engines to go there!) has just opened in The Bowl, on the site of a former pub, right on the edge of Ampthill. <a href="https://caffeineandmachine.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Caffeine and Machine</a> (the original in in Stratford-upon-Avon) is designed to be a space to enjoy food and drink alongside conversation about (and eclectic displays of) eclectic machinery from pristine classics to trucks and superbikes. Check out their upcoming ticketed events &#8211; they&#8217;re still in their launch phase until 30 Sept, with a limited menu &#8211; from car clubs to specialist automotive weekends in The Yard. Vroom!</p>

<p>Over in Radlett a brand new family-owned micro pub opened this summer at Springfield farm. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093375463713" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Farm, Park Street</a> is in a private secluded location, within 400 acres of woodland (with streams and walkways to explore) between Radlett and Park Street Village. Currently open Friday &#8211; Sunday and there are plans to host live music from local bands, jazz nights, as well as karaoke, street food (from the likes of Outlaw burgers and Gourmet Pizza) and cinema screenings, so watch this space! </p>
