Inspired by the life of Nina Simone, <a href="https://everyonetheatres.com/whats-on/black-is-the-color-of-my-voice-2/">Black Is the Colour of My Voice</a> follows a young girl’s journey from local church performances to renowned jazz vocalist at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement. It’s at the Gordon Craig Theatre, 23 Feb.



Breakaway Theatre Company is bringing <a href="https://ovo.org.uk/shows/ladies-down-under/#book">Ladies Down Under</a> to The Maltings Theatre, St Albans from 13-15 Feb and 20-22 Feb. Full of fun, the play follows four women on a trip to Australia where events (such as meeting a bongo-playing hippy in Bondi) prompt them to reassess their lives back home in Hull.



Arthur Miller’s powerful play <a href="https://www.enjoystalbans.com/event/all-my-sons/">All My Son’s</a> is at the Abbey Theatre, St Albans from 28 Feb – 8 March. Set in 1947, it deals with weighty subjects including moral responsibility, the consequences of dishonesty and the burden of guilt.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-music-and-dance">MUSIC AND DANCE</h2>



Celebrate the Year of the Snake with the <a href="https://watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk/events/chinese-new-year-culture-show/">Chinese New Year Culture Show</a> at Watford Palace Theatre on 9 Feb. Enjoy an evening of traditional dances, dramatic martial art, classical music and Chinese stylistic songs. 



<a href="https://www.stalbanscathedral.org/Event/music-by-moonlight">St Albans Cathedral Choir </a>perform a concert of moon-themed music under the huge lunar installation that currently graces the Nave of the Abbey on 9 Feb.

Sing along to your fave Spice Girls songs with <a href="https://beamhertford.co.uk/events/the-spice-girls-experience/">The Spice Girls Experience</a> at Hertford BEAM on 19 Feb. Featuring a backing band, dance routines and authentic costumes these girls were the opening act for Adele’s Munich residency. Zig-A-Zig-Ah!



And here’s another tribute act. Direct from the West End, <a href="https://www.thespotlightvenue.com/whats-on/michael-starring-ben/180">Michael </a>starring Ben Bowman is at The Spotlight, Hoddesdon on 22 Feb. With a live band, dazzling costumes and the performer’s iconic dance routines it&#8217;s sure to be a Thriller (ahem) of a night.



Sequins and feathers at the ready for this one. <a href="https://everyonetheatres.com/whats-on/queenz-drag-me-to-the-disco-3/">Queenz</a> are at the Grove Theatre, Beds with Drag Me To The Disco. A drag-stravaganza, these dazzling disco divas promise to serve up a party of a lifetime. 26 Feb.

While Milton Jones (Live at the Apollo, Mock The Week) is keeping the laughs flowing with his funny and absurd show, <a href="https://everyonetheatres.com/whats-on/milton-jones-ha-milton/">Ha!Milton</a> at Grove Theatre, Beds also on 1 Feb.



Comedian <a href="https://oldtownhall.co.uk/events/rob-newman-where-the-wild-things-were">Rob Newman</a> is at The Old Town Hall in Hemel with his new show Where The Wild Things Were. It&#8217;s all about lost beavers, future cities and philistine bingo callers! Quite a combo. 7 Feb.



NHS anaesthetist, comedian and author Ed Patrick, injects Bedford with plenty of tonsil-rattling humour as he presents his <a href="https://quarrytheatre.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/873661224">The Secret Life of a Sleepless Anaesthetist</a> show at the Quarry Theatre, Bedford on Feb 21.

<a href="https://www.stalbanscathedral.org/pages/events/category/museum-of-the-moon?Take=16">Museum of the Moon</a> is on until Feb 15 at St Albans Cathedral. Marvel at this huge lunar installation hanging in the Nave of the Abbey. You can also take part in a number of ticketed events including <a href="https://www.stalbanscathedral.org/Event/evening-pilgrimage-under-the-moon">Evening Pilgrimage Under The Moon </a>(Feb 4) and <a href="https://www.stalbanscathedral.org/Event/divine-designs">Divine Designs</a> (Feb 6).



Over at St Albans Museum + Gallery <a href="https://www.stalbansmuseums.org.uk/whats-on/catching-chain">Catching the Chain</a> is a free exhibition exploring the history of criminal justice and the ways in which offenders were dealt with from the Iron Age to present day. There’s artwork depicting trials held in the Museum + Gallery’s historic courtroom and you can also peek inside a recreated life-size modern prison (complete with bed and toilet). Until April 2025



<a href="https://www.nhm.ac.uk/events/young-wildlife-photographer-of-the-year.html">Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year</a> is on until April 27 at the Natural History Museum in Tring. There&#8217;s plenty of stunning photography on display capturing the fragility and beauty of wildlife, from miniscule insects to mighty beasts. Free.

The <a href="https://www.shuttleworth.org/product/scale25/">Shuttleworth Scale Model Exhibition</a> is back for another year, with plenty of keen modellers showcasing their work on 16 Feb, while on Feb 22 and 23, you can view the inner workings of Shuttleworth’s vintage vehicles and aircraft at their <a href="https://www.shuttleworth.org/product/engineering-open-25/">Engineering Open Workshop</a>. You can also enjoy the extra bonus of entry to the beautiful Grade II house.
