Oglee Poglee to the rescue!
Muddy's Jo Findlay and her crafty kids put Oglee Poglee's creative party bags to the test, but were they up to the job of keeping them entertained at a grown-up family celebration?
My challenge: How to keep eight children, ranging from 3 to 11 years old, entertained during my parents’ Golden Wedding Anniversary party.
Having scoured the shops for interesting things to keep the gaggle of kids occupied (and quiet!) in the upcoming event, I left empty-handed and increasingly anxious…
Luckily, Oglee Poglee came to the rescue with their hand-made craft party bags. Ordered online and delivered quickly, they are designed to encourage kids to use their hands and imaginations to get creating. You have a choice of bags to choose from, in all sorts of themes, ranging from Mermaid to Superhero. I went for the Surprise Mix Party Bag, with no set theme, which was packed full of colourful, varied bits for boys and girls to create with. Each included stickers, shapes, a rainbow crayon, lolly sticks, tiny cards and the all important glue stick, and no two bags are the same, which meant the kids enjoyed comparing and swapping their contents.
It wasn’t long before they were ripped open and the table was covered with cute cut outs in rainbow colours – the kids were like bees round a honey-pot. What I loved was the fact that all they were so engrossed in creating something – not a screen in sight – and for more than just a snatched five minutes. Us oldies were able to sit back, enjoy the speeches and sip our fizz, without any sleeve tugging and whiny voices asking when the disco was going to start!
The end result was a fantastic variety of creations – pictures, cards, lollipop people – and some very happy children, proud of their works of art. Plus I was able to save any leftover crafty bits from the bags to take home and use at a later date. It’s a resounding thumbs up from the Findlay crew.
