Hot Herts Hotel Opening: Birch

From the former Managing Director of London’s cult Ace Hotel, Chris Penn, and US entrepreneur Chris King, comes the most exciting thing to happen to Hertfordshire this year – Birch. This co-working space/members’ club/hotel and restaurant is now ready to go. And it’s in quite the location – the former home of eccentric Victorian socialite Lady Meux (who converted part of the house into a rollerskating zone and allegedly rode around London in a zebra-drawn carriage. LOL). Expect exquisite farm to table food offerings, in the aptly-named Zebra Riding Club restaurant, from Robin Gil, of London restaurants The Dairy, Sorella and Darby’s. Epic Screen Space Finale Line Up Announced

There’ll be gigs galore at Hatfield House for the rest of this month, as The Screen Space hosts Los Pacaminos, the Tex-mex band featuring 1980s pop singer Paul Young (23 Aug), The Comedy Store (22 & 29 Aug) and YouTube sensation Hope Winter and friends (30 Aug). There’s even a final night firework finale with the national sensation that is the Leo Green Orchestra. Each gig is held in the gardens, with a festival-chic food and drink set up on site. Grab your gang, get the cocktails on order and fill your musical boots.
