Craving a dose of local hot gossip? You're in luck. Here's the lowdown on the latest openings, closures, plus a brand new festival - and you heard it hear first people!
OOOH! NEW FESTIVAL!
Listen up Muddy readers, there’s a brand new festival near our in our ‘hood! Chilterns Live will be popping up in Tring’s Pendley Meadow, with a stellar pop line-up of Busted (this illicited a few squeals at Muddy HQ), Sophie Ellis Bextor, The Feeling and Top Loader on Sat 29 June. You can currently pay by cheque by downloading this form, and as soon as online booking is up, we’ll let you know.
Hold the front page! Smallford Farm Shop in St Albans is open (as of today!) and it looks fab. The freshly stocked pallet-style shelves are bulging with tempting locally produced goodies, and of course there’s oodles of fresh fruit and veg to snaffle up too. Personally, we can’t wait to check out the café with its uber cool industrial look and a menu of seasonal dishes, cakes and locally roasted coffee.
The Tring outpost of lovely coffee-shop, restaurant and bar, Jack & Alice closed its doors on the 24 Feb. Nooo! But wait… we’ve heard on the grapevine that it’s set to re-open in a couple of weeks under the same owners and team, but with new menus (they’ll still be serving breakfast, lunch, cocktails and coffee – phew!) and new branding to be announced soon. Intrigued? So are we. We’ll keep you posted…
LOVE WINE? READ ON…
Just re-opened in Hitchin is The Wee Vinoteca. This bijou wine shop (or library of wine, which sounds much more fun!) opened in November, but now has its own bar, too, where you can try a selection of the sommerlier selected whites, rosés, reds, fizz and sweet wines by the glass, and with paired dishes. In the shop you can buy mixed cases, wine box subscriptions and pin down one of the experts for some advice if, like us, you prefer drinking it to studying it.
